As the pen is rotated, she holds the marker steady in one place until a circle of her chosen color is completed. She then moves the same pen or one of a different color to the next position and watches closely as the marker makes another circle of color around the body of the pen.

She watches as the ink supply (taken from a ballpoint pen) is inserted into a pre-drilled hole. Does it work? YES!

The children will make two pens – each unique, each requiring a steady hand with the markers, each a work of art.
